Request and review records maintained by the California Seismic Safety Commission.

Access to Public Records

Public records maintained by the Alfred E. Alquist Seismic Safety Commission (SSC) are available for public review during regular business hours. If records aren’t immediately available, SSC may need time to locate and review them.

To submit a Public Records Act request, or to ask a question, please email InfoSSC@caloes.ca.gov.

What to Include in Your Request

Be Specific

Clearly describe the records you are requesting.

Provide Details

Include enough information to help us identify and locate the records.

Submit in Writing

Written requests are preferred and help us respond more efficiently.

Review Records

Records are available for review at SSC offices during business hours. Larger requests may require a scheduled time. All materials must remain on-site and may be reviewed with staff present.

Response & Availability

Some records may require review to remove confidential or exempt information, which may affect response time.

Copies & Fees

  • Viewing records is free
  • Copying fees may apply
  • Additional costs may apply for large or complex requests
  • Fees may be waived when costs are minimal

Public records are protected by law. Removing, altering, or destroying records is prohibited and may result in penalties under California law.
